Pronounced “bry”, a braai is the Afrikaans word for barbecue. There’s no better way to spend a few hours at lunchtime or in the evening around a braai-fire sampling South African delicacies such as springbok, kudu or ostrich steaks, boerewors (farm sausage) and chicken kebabs, along with mielies (corn) and roasted butternut and potatoes, while sampling fine South African wines and beers, brandewyn (brandy) and cane spirit, with home-grown music playing in the background, and koeksusters and melktert (traditional South African desserts) to round off the meal.
The ideal number of visitors per braai is 20, with 10 friendly Durbanites on hand to answer all your questions. Should your party be less than 20 persons, then we will combine you with other smaller parties. Every visitor attending a braai evening will receive a bottle of South African wine to take away with them after the event.
